Description:	On December 27, 2004, the EU Commission published an alternative set of model terms that can be used to satisfy the requirements of EU Data Protection Legislation. The EU Data Protection Legislation regulates the basis upon which personal data can be transferred from a data controller in the European Economic Area (EEA) to a data controller or a data processor located outside the EEA. Personal data can only be transferred by a data controller within the EEA to a person located outside the EEA if the requirements of the EU Data Protection Legislation are met. There are a number of ways in which these requirements can be satisfied, including, in the case of transfers to data controllers or data processors base in the US, where the recipient US company has signed up to the Department of Commerce Safe Harbor principles.
